FutureNet explains ideas that work for a livable future: local currencies and cooperatives, fungi that clean polluted soil, ranked ballots and citizens’ assemblies, restorative justice and nonviolent peacebuilding. For every idea we answer three questions. What is it? Where does it already work, and with what results? What do supporters and critics say?
How we work
Explainers are written for curious readers, students, teachers, local initiatives and journalists. Each one starts with a short answer, gives figures and examples, names its sources and shows when it was last reviewed. We do not take sides on political parties or candidates. About this domain
From 1996 to 2009, futurenet.org was home to a different publication. FutureNet is a new and independent project with no connection to that publisher. Where people still link to old pages, we have written new explainers on the same subjects, so those links lead somewhere useful again.
Who is behind FutureNet
FutureNet is published by Progressive Media GmbH in Pöcking, Germany. See the legal notice. Corrections and ideas for new explainers are welcome via our contact page.
